Joseph Altuzarra is the latest prizewinner of the CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund and in order to celebrate this success, J.Crew presents a limited-edition seven-piece collection made exclusively by the designer for the famous brand. What to expect from this unique collaboration? Well, prepare to fall for Paris-born Joseph Altuzarra’s playfully seductive spin on some of J.Crew’s signatures!
“J.Crew stands for that very American idea of prep, but I thought it would be cool to do something inspired by Bardot and Saint-Tropez. It’s very Jean Seberg. There’s the idea of Breton sweaters, denim skirts and what you would wear on the French Riviera,” the designer stated.
Altuzarra’s collection for J.Crew features achingly chic pieces such as classic pencil dresses in preppy gingham, long-sleeved tops, nautical cashmere sweaters, tie-front shirts, and yacht-ready espadrilles created by topping off a platform sole with a suede loafer in saturated shades such as red or apricot. “I thought about things my customer would want to buy, and wear with pieces of mine that she already had,” Joseph Altuzarra said.
The renowned designer also took the classic denim pencil skirt and gave it a touch of French flair with a flattering curved seam in the back and a cheeky asymmetrical kick pleat. “My skirts are always a longer length, but they hug the body just right so you feel the tailoring and a certain sensuality and confidence,” the New York-based rising star said.
The pieces in the Altuzarra for J.Crew capsule collection range in price from $85 to $345 and are alredy available online from April 19.
