Elegant, sophisticated, chic and extremely creative, Olivia Palermo managed to become one of the coolest fashion icons and impress everyone with her unique appearances. This time, Palermo sits down for a chat with Chic Outlet Shopping®, Europe’s leading collection of luxury outlet shopping destinations, and shares some of her top style tips. Check out these highlights from her interview and a behind-the-scenes video!
Asked about what Europe means to her, Olivia admitted that, “Fashion has always been important to me – growing up in New York, I made regular trips to Europe and quickly realized how stylish and on-trend Europeans are.” “So when I started studying in Paris, I was immersed immediately. I haven’t been able to resist since then – I work regularly in Paris, Milan, and London which provides my fix of fashion and culture. Plus shopping, of course; after all, a girl should treat herself occasionally.”
Speaking about what makes a memorable fashion experience, the 26-year-old model, editor and entrepreneur says that, “I am so busy that shopping is something I have to plan. I always look for great service, but I don’t just mean being fast and efficient, like I get in Manhattan. When I do treat myself to some retail therapy, I like the kind of hospitality that makes me feel special, the kind I find at the Chic Outlet Shopping® Villages. No rush, no hassle, and very VIP treatment – including personal shopping on hand, which means I get all the time I need to research the labels I love.”
Sharing her top style tips, Palermo speaks about floral prints, metallics, ethnic prints, pastel cashmere and oversized hats. “Floral print is a quintessential part of my summer wardrobe – especially shoes from Karen Millen (Maasmechelen Village and Kildare Village) and floral trousers from Spazio (Dolce& Gabbana) (Maasmechelen Village, Las Rozas Village andLa Roca Village),” the beautiful fashionista says.
Olivia confesses that, “I carry all my essentials in a tote bag. I love Mulberry for the city (Bicester Village). For a short getaway, Tumi have chic weekendluggage (Ingolstadt Village, Wertheim Village, Bicester Village and La Vallée Village).”
When it comes to styling, Olivia Palermo is famous for having that natural sense of making innovative combinations and putting together killer combos. “A white blazer gives everything a luxe feel; I wear mine with everything from jeans to silk dresses. Lacoste has some beautifully tailored examples (Bicester Village, Las Rozas Village, Fidenza Village, Ingolstadt Village, Wertheim Village and La Roca Village) as well as Reiss (Kildare Village and Bicester Village),” she told Chic Outlet Shopping®.
On how to rock metallics, Palermo explains that, “To wear the metallic trend in a subtle way, a thin gold belt offsets an outfit perfectly. I wear one to add shape to a dress, or paired with tailored trousers. I spotted a gorgeous slim-line belt at Jaeger (Kildare Village), and S.T. Dupont (La Vallée Village) has some great variations.”
As on the already famous neon print trend, Olivia says that, “A quirky trend this spring/summer is bright prints, which are everywhere. A great way to wear this trend is with printed trousers, and as I’m a capri pant fan, I’m looking for a few bright pairs, which I’ve spotted in Paul Smith (Bicester Village) and Escada (Wertheim Village, Ingolstadt Village and Maasmechelen Village) – both have some great neon versions.”
