Fall campaigns are already starting to appear everywhere, so important retailers try their best to attract their customer’s attention with the help of A-list celebrities and eye-catching campaigns. High-end British retailer Marks and Spencer is adopting a similar strategy for the new Autograph collection with the help of Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds and supermodel/actress Rosie Huntington-Whitely who has recently appeared in a racy ad campaign for Burberry.
M&S executive director Steve Sharp reveals the main qualities that made the two perfect for the brand and a few details about the photo-shoot: “Rosie and Ryan are the perfect fit for Autograph—beautiful, exclusive, and absolutely contemporary. On set, they worked together to deliver a mesmerizing performance which allowed us to capture shots that literally sizzle with excitement and an air of mystery.”
Ryan Reynolds stated that he is thrilled to work for a brand he loved ever since he was a kid: “I was thrilled when M&S asked me to be in their campaign and Rosie was a pleasure to work with. I’m from Canada and grew up with the M&S brand. Going into an M&S store with my family or friends always gives me a beautiful pang of nostalgia. The Autograph collection is a modern take on the classic style I love and feel most comfortable wearing. The pieces in this collection are lasting staples that’ll never go out of style.”
In turn, Rosie revealed that she is excited to work with the well known British brand: “I am extremely excited to be working with M&S on the new Autograph Autumn 2020 campaign. I feel proud to be associated with a British high street favorite that holds fond memories for so many people, particularly the Autograph brand. The collection is sophisticated, elegant, and effortless, which I hope to embody in my own personal style.”
The campaign, shot by photographer Greg Williams at the St Pancras Grand in London cleverly emphasizes the feeling of understated elegance the brand is trying to project. Rosie looks absolutely adorable in sexy outfits with a subtle retro vibe since she is a classic beauty. Ryan Reynolds looks like a true gentleman and the chemistry between the two is so apparent, we begin to wonder if they should star in a movie together.
This campaign is not the only surprise the brand has for us. The brand will also be collaborating with British male model David Gandy who will be the face of the 2020 Collezione collection for the brand. Furthermore, Lisa Snowdon, Jamie Redknapp and Twiggy will continue to star in the ads to be released by the brand in the upcoming months.
