According to Mulberry, next summer will definitely be a cutesy affair. The legendary brand that celebrated its 40th birthday this year amazes us with a spectacular show for its spring 2020 collection presented at London Fashion Week. “It was all about my memories of the English seaside as a kid in the Seventies. We sat on the beach with [raincoats] over our swimming costumes, and ate fish and chips,” said Emma Hill, Mulberry’s creative director.
Once again, the luxury brand proves why it was considered the darling of the fashion industry in the ’70s and ’80s. Ispired by seasides and the Great British Summer, the latest Mulberry collection showed us lemon sherbet and lightweight looks, super-soft leather, lemon yellows, lollipop-inspired ensembles, macs and windbreakers, lovable prints, hooded trench coats, appliquéd jackets, long lace raglan dresses and sheer, floor-skimming and pleated skirts, leggings worn under dresses, and breathtaking all over jewel-encrusted dresses.
The color palette is fun and playful and it includes lots of oh-so-adorable pastels, but also nude, gold and black. Models walked the runway with super-sexy teased, tousled hair and natural makeup, wearing mint green, bubblegum pink, and eye-catching yellows. Cute, feminine silhouettes are paired with sporty pieces for a modern, edgy flair. Moreover, the striped candy-colored maxi dress gives an instant impact with no further special adornments needed.
As for the accessories, we’ve seen stunning towering platforms and bags from the brand’s new Travel Collection, but also the already famous Alexa and Lily bags which were reinvented for the Mulberry Spring 2020 line.
