Earlier this year, ex-Pringle of Scotland designer Clare Waight Keller became Chloé’s new creative director, replacing Hannah MacGibbon, who has been with the prestigious house since 2020. Now, it was Waight Keller’s chance to show that she can continue the particular take on effotless feminity and amazing sophistication specific to the legendary French label. And the newly installed designer’s first collection for Chloé met all our expectations. “I want it to be classically feminine, with a lot of fluidity and movement, but also very real,” Waight Keller said.
The Chloé spring 2020 collection showcased at Paris Fashion Week was a plethora of desirable, nonchalant looks. So soft, delicate and amazingly feminine, the line features collarless blazers, the already Chloé classic wide-legged pants, ’20s drop-waist pleated dresses, pleated skirts, loose jackets, pretty blouses, shorts, cuffed trousers, but also crisp white masculine-inspired shirts. High-heeled shoes, comfy flats, and bags in neutral colors flawlessly complemented the mesmerizing ensembles.
The collection satisfied in so many different ways. First, there were those incredibly whimsical, soft textures flowing easily and exquisitely embracing the silhouettes. Second, the subtle colors used totally proved that simplicity can indeed be breathtaking and can have a great impact. Third, there were eye-catching embroidered flowers, elegant stripes and refined pleats adding a touch of grandness to the line. As a whole, the collection was utterly refreshing, young, pretty, ideally mixing masculine and feminine, modern and classic, ethereal and real.
