An effortless femininity and a slightly sporty vibe characterize the latest Stella McCartney spring 2020 collection showed at Paris Fashion Week. “Summer! And a real celebration of energy … And fitness!” she said, speaking about her new line. McCartney, who was named the official designer for the British Olympic team, takes us on an interesting, modern voyage without forgetting all those remarkable shapes and details that made her famous.
With gorgeous models Natalia Vodianova and Miranda Kerr walking down the catwalk, the show was a real success. Sporty yet sexy, daring yet romantic, the collection features some fascinating, unconventional combinations of prints and patterns. “It’s very much a celebration of the season. I tend to do prints, I’m a lover of prints, but for this season we wanted to use quite familiar nondescript prints and play with their scale and have them as a way of introducing color,” McCartney said.
There was a certain delicacy and sharpness to her clothes despite the bold mix and match of paisley, check prints, geometric motifs and playful polka dots. The fabrics used – silk, chiffon, crepe de chine, mesh, organic cotton, knits, napa leather, vegetable suede – added the delicate touch to the collection. The color palette included black, white, red and cobalt blue in dazzling mixtures. There were wide-leg pants worn with asymmetrical blouses, relaxed pajamas, mesh mini cocktail dresses, blazers, oversized polo shirts, jackets, shorts, skirts, jumpsuits, but also sandals, colorful sunglasses, bags and clutches.
