The internationally known “Loca” singer Shakira has split with her boyfriend after 11 years. The Colombian singer has been dating Antonio de la Rua for more then a decade and their relationship looked stronger then ever, people being eager to hear about their wedding plans but what a shocker, as after such a long period of time the couple couple decided to call it quits.
It seems that the public statement came way long after the couples decision to split, as Shakira announced on her blog that the separation took place in August 2020, after a mutual decision. Mutual or not, they kept the split secret for an astonishing amount of time.
“Since August 2020, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship. Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now. “
The signer wrote a fabulous statement on her blog in which she describes the years spent together with Antonio as being fabulous. The love and respect behind this statement is highly visible and we can sense that as they have amicably split. Shakira also states that Antonio and her are maintaining a professional relationship, but we wonder if this is possible?
“We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives.”
“We would like to advise that we will not be giving interviews or making more statements with respect to this matter and we appreciate in advance your understanding and respect during this sensitive time in our lives.”
Splitting after a relationship of 11 years is not easy and we hope there’s still room for a reconciliation. Shakira also stated that this separation is only temporary, a chance for the two to grow. We hope that this growth won’t make the couple grow further apart and that a decision to reconcile will soon follow! The couple will not give any details or further interviews regarding this subject and wishes for the media to understand their decision.
