In spite of her controversial music career as well as the scandals her appearance in London generated, Nicki Minaj is eager to reveal on of her more sensuous sides and talk about her past and various circumstances that marked her life. In an interview given to the US newspaper The Sun, the young diva, Nicki Minaj talks about parental abuse.
She claims that: “All of my young and teenage early years we lived in fear that my mother would be killed by my father,” “It was ridiculous. It made me act out to guys and be evil to them when I was growing up.”.(The Sun) Indeed living in a similar constant trauma generated in the conscience of the young girl a real drama that would come to the surface in her relationship with boys.
However Nicki Minaj still managed to stand up and get some good out of this unfortunate family background, namely that she got stronger through the years. “It made me tough. Of course it did,” “I am an emotional person, but I am a tough person. It was very tough emotionally for me to have a parent who was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I had a mum with no money.”.(The Sun)
The lack of any support from her family and the series of dramatic events that marked her life contributed to the formation of her strong personality also mirrored in her music and lyrics.
“I will cry about something but I never let anything stop me. I can’t be like my mum. I know I can cut ties and still make it,” “She didn’t cut ties when I felt like she should have done.
That’s been my whole thing. I’ve been able to say, ‘This isn’t working anymore. You need to get out of my life.’ I keep it moving and it has worked.”. (The Sun)
Her success is indeed the result of her hard work and perseverance on the stage of music and in her private life in general. The success story of the young music goddess definitely brings her the happiness and personal satisfaction she might have missed in her childhood.
