With the big day here, the Royal house has decided it’s time to make the final changes and so Queen Elizabeth II announced Prince William and Kate’s new titles. The new hottest couple of England, who will tie the knot today, 29th of April, 2020, have received a new title, that of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Once they’ll be married Kate Middleton can proudly present herself as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, title obtained by marrying His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge (Prince William).
This Royal event is highly awaited and people all over the world will tune on for the grand, lavishing royal wedding. It’s the first time in 30 years when a Royal family member from the British society marries a simple girl, without any Royal titles. Thirty years ago, Prince Charles decided to take a simple girl of an extraordinary modesty as his wife, Diana, who later became Princess Diana of Wales, a Princess loved and remembered by an entire nation.
The titles will be given after the couple is wed today, at Westminster Abbey, in a ceremony which will be watched by millions of people. It is a tradition that the Queen gives a Duke title to her sons when they marry, and so it’s not such a surprise that Prince William will receive this title.
Prince William also has two other titles which most people are not familiar with, such as Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.
The official news that the newly-weds will receive a Dukedom title was given by the Queen’s press secretary and stated: “The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince William of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus. Prince William thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge and Miss Catherine Middleton on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.”
