Lady Gaga seems to know a thing or two about music, as she not only covers the latest V magazine Asia issue, but she is actually going to have her own monthly column. Her debut piece on pop culture is featured in V magazine Asia issue, and apparently Gaga is quite skilled at what she’s embarked on.
Lady Gaga graduated from NYU Tisch School of Arts where she studies music, so she’s actually got a strong knowledge in this field. Her interest in music and pop culture has helped Gaga become the icon she is today, and she’s willing to share her take on pop music with her fans all over the world, through the help of V magazine.
In her debut column on pop culture Lady Gaga writes: “Glam culture is ultimately rooted in obsession, and those of us who are truly devoted and loyal to the lifestyle of glamour are masters of its history. Or, to put it more elegantly, we are librarians. I myself can look at almost any hemline, silhouette, beadwork, or heel architecture and tell you very precisely who designed it first, what French painter they stole it from, how many designers reinvented it after them, and what cultural and musical movement parented the birth, death, and resurrection of that particular trend. So dear critics and bullies: get your library cards out, because I’m about to do a reading.”
There is a lot more behind Gaga than meets the eye, she is actually more than just a singer, she is an artist who is trying to revolutionize music, and leave her print on it. Music is art, and art is a form of expression, so Gaga says someone who doesn’t fully understand art should not criticize. “…Any writer, or anyone for that matter, who doesn’t understand the last two sentences of this column should NEVER be writing about or critiquing fashion or artists in publication. As someone who references and annotates her work vigilantly, I am putting all of you on notice.”
This is definitely another side of Gaga, and could this actually be the inspiration for the three headed Gaga picture on the cover of V magazine? Gaga has always shown her sympathy for others, and recently she expressed her concern for Japan. This is probably why ten percent of the sales from this issue will go to helping this country, which is still recovering from the disasters which hit one after another.
