The world was in shock when Miley Cyrus appeared in public donning a diamond engagement ring as the former Disney Channel ‘Hanna Montana’ is only 19 years old. Now that her engagement to ‘Hunger Games’ heartthrob Liam Hemsworth has been made public, celebrities are not shy to offer the young couple advice for the long-road ahead. According to People, actress Jade Pinkett Smith, who is preparing to celebrate her 15 year wedding anniversary to actor Will Smith, decided to share a piece of advice to Miley.
Miley, who has been in an relationship with Liam for over three years, revealed that she couldn’t be happier with her decision to take her relationship to the next level, but according to Jada this is a step in life that requires ‘flexibility’. Jada, 40, and Will Smith have been named Hollywood’s power-couple as not many celebs manage to maintain their marriage on float especially after so many years, as Jada has been dating the ‘Men in Black’ actor since she was 23 years old, and according to Ms. Pinkett Smith “forever is a long time”. She tells People that:
“When you are starting forever at 19 years old, and it is not to say that there is anything wrong with that, but it is just to know that what it is now and what it will be, it is just going to continue to transform and change.”
The mother of two seems to have found the secret to making a relationship work, and according to the actress, the secret to a long lasting marriage/relationship is friendship. Her advice to Miley and Liam, who is not much older than Miley, is:
“Learn how to be friends, especially when you are starting that young”. The actress also added that ‘lots of change coming, lots of transitions’ and she should definitely know a thing or two about that as the 40 year old actress has been recently rumored to be heading for divorce but amid the rumors the couple is still holding strong and dismissed the rumors as ludicrous. Jada also said that in a relationship maintaining flexibility is also very important. She said:
“You have to keep flexibility [in a relationship]. You have to be with someone you consider as a friend.”
Miley Cyrus’s parents have already given the couple their blessing, only it’s been rumored that her dad is hoping for a long engagement. So far a wedding day hasn’t been set, so we’ll just have to wait and see when the couple decides it’s the time to stroll down the aisle.
