Marion Cotillard Reveals Her Sultry Side for WSJ Magazine July/August 2020

Marion Cotillard has that special ‘je ne sais quoi’ that seems to characterize every French woman. Well, just check out the super-glam WSJ’s July/August 2020 cover featuring Cotillard in a fab Gucci dress and with vampy red lips. The lovely 36-year-old actress also sits down for a chat with the magazine and dishes on Batman, fashion and the difference between acting and modeling. “I find it very interesting to be able to create your own story about what you feel in a certain outfit,” says Cotillard about the “romantic and gothic” clothes she wore for the WSJ’s cover shoot. “The difference is, the whole story is known only by you.”

On fashion and dealing with all the journalists’ questions at runway shows in Paris, Marion, who is Dior’s face, confesses that, “I would have very dumb answers because I didn’t have anything to say. Not that I’m smarter with my answers now, but at least my vision of fashion has changed — it’s actually an art, what designers do with the shape of the body.”

The Oscar-winning French actress plays businesswoman Miranda Tate in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, the final installment of his gritty Batman franchise set to be released in July. “I was crazy about Batman growing up — he was kind of a fantasy,” says Cotillard.

Marion Cotillard is not just a beautiful woman but she also proves to be a super-talented and versatile actress, managing to play a wide variety of roles. Besides appearing in successful Hollywood blockbusters, Marion has time to star in “quieter” French films such as ‘Little White Lies’ by Guillaume Canet, her partner of many years.

‘Little White Lies’, a comedy-drama released in France in 2020 and which is opening stateside this August, tells the story of a group of tight-knit friends who “have stopped saying real things to each other because they’re scared that everything in their lives will fall apart.” On the cast, Cotillard says that, “If we were shooting a party, we were at a party. It was kind of hard for Guillaume to contain us sometimes.”

Marion travels a lot due to her career and confesses that, “I have the opportunity to travel in all these worlds, and that’s why I wanted to be an actress. I wanted to go from a point to the opposite point — and that’s happening.” Still, the actress admits that since she became a mom, her priorities have changed. “Your priorities are totally changed, and for the best,” she told WSJ. “I’m super cool now.”
