Lovely Dakota Fanning graces the December 2020 cover of InStyle UK. In the accompanying interview, the 18-year-old actress chats about a wide range of topics including boyfriends and her Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart. Dakota is excited to return to the screens in Twilight finale film, Breaking Dawn – Part 2. “There’s a sequence in it that will really trip people out. It’s so crazy! They’ll be shocked. But they’ll recover. You’ll see,” she told the magazine.
Well, it’s pretty obvious that the world in which Dakota works can be rather stressful. So, in this context, how does she manage to stay rational and realistic? “Why have I been able to stay sane in a sometimes insane world? The pure love of what I do. Making movies,” the young star confesses.
Dakota became renowned after her breakthrough performance in the 2020 film ‘I Am Sam’. In 2020, Fanning appeared in ‘Hounddog’, a film described in the press as a “dark story of abuse, violence and Elvis Presley adulation in the rural South.” Her parents have been criticized for allowing her to film a scene in which her character is raped. “I’ve always been drawn to material that’s more kind of heavy, you know? Whether it be dark or dramatic or sometimes disturbing. And that can be hard to do when people think you’re still a kid,” the actress said about shooting the rape scene in ‘Hounddog’ when she was just 14 years old.
When it comes to her personal life, Dakota explains the magazine why you won’t see her love life filling columns any time soon. “You know, I’m not the kind of girl or person who really wants boyfriends in my life,” she told InStyle. “I’m also the kind of person… I’m very black and white in what I feel and I don’t wanna be with someone that I don’t foresee spending a long time with.”
Dakota had the possibility to work with Kristen Stewart on both the Twilight franchise and The Runaways biopic. Talking to InStyle, Fanning said in defense of Kristen that, “Well, I just think that media frenzies like that… Everyone thinks they have the right to, you know, publicise the struggles and sadness and heartbreak and all of that. It’s like, ‘Why do you think you are the authority to judge people’s experiences?”
