Rita Ora and Rimmel London are working together on a makeup line that make its debut on February 2020. Lately, the British pop star has managed to snag a multitude of sweet gigs (the Material Girl campaign and the DKNY 2020 ads come to mind) and it seems like she’s ready to venture into the world of cosmetics creation. Given the fact that the role is quite new to her, she’s keeping the number of products low in order to gain experience: I wanted to start small because it was my first thing. I wanted to see how that goes and, if it works, we expand, that’s the aim. I see what they like, what they don’t like and kind of evolve and make it right,” she told WWD.com.
The new Rita Ora x Rimmel London makeup collection will consist of seven chubby lip shades and twelve colors of 60 Seconds nail polish. The star began using the label’s products during adolescence, purchasing her favorite products with her lunch money: “I was in school and I had, like, 5 or 6 pounds. I wasn’t the richest kid on the planet. I would go and buy a red lipstick that I couldn’t wear with uniform and I’d have to wait until 3:30 p.m. to even put it on, which I always did, even though my mum thought I looked ridiculous.”
While her style evolved greatly since then, she’s still quite fond of the label’s products and will be using her newfound knowledge to bring cool options that will reflect her personality. She’s already chosen two of her favorite new options: the “Ora-gasmic Orange” nail polish and “Richer The Better,” a bold red lipstick. The pocket friendly new options will be retailing for 3.99 pounds (nail polishes) and 4.99 pounds (lipsticks).
Friedemann Schmid, vice president of Rimmel London stated that more such pleasant surprises like this one will be prepared for 2020: “We wanted to do an artist collaboration with someone with a real point of view. The plan is to do a different collaboration with a London artist every year. Whether that be with a pop star like Rita, or an artist, or a fashion designer.”
