Lupita Nyong’o topped People magazine’s 2020 “Most Beautiful” list. The Oscar winning actress has constantly made the headlines with her amazing talent, her unique sense of humor and absolutely flawless red carpet style, so it was only a matter of time before this type of recognition would happen, which is why the honor hardly comes as a surprise for anyone.
Scoring lucrative deals such as being the newly appointed celebrity brand ambassador for Lancome and starring in fab fashion ads like the Miu Miu spring 2020 campaign, the young star has truly become one of the most influential It girls of the year. Even with her rising fame, the star accepted the honor with modesty, calling it ”a major, major compliment.”
Lupita Nyong’o also confessed that she grew up thinking that light skin and long flowing hair were the attributes that made women beautiful and that it took a while for her to believe she truly is beautiful since she was regularly taunted for the color of her skin. The most influential voice that gradually managed to convince her that she was indeed beautiful was her mother’s.
She also stated that she’s excited to receive the honor of being named People’s 2020 Most Beautiful Woman partly because it is a proof that beauty isn’t a narrow concept, even though it often feels that way. She told People.com that: “I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [it] and feel a little more seen.” Despite being envied for her amazing makeup looks, the star confessed that the times when she felt most beautiful was when she wasn’t wearing makeup at all.
Besides the Hollywood darling, People magazine has also included Keri Russell, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Mindy Kaling, Pink, Amber Heard, Gabrielle Union or Kerry Washington on the prestigious list of 2020’s most beautiful people which includes no less than 50 names.
