The new year is bringing not only new season sartorial delights but also exciting new scents. Among the exciting new releases there’s one that stands out: the Oscar de la Renta “Something Blue” fragrance. As the name clearly suggests, the new fragrance is inspired by the wedding ceremony and all the symbols it represents. Still, the new perfume is not only destined for brides to be. The brand is thinking much far beyond. The intent for the label’s new scent is to become a lifestyle scent.
Still, the connection with fashion isn’t neglected. “What we want to do with our fragrance business — the way we want to stand out — is to tie back to our fashion. Bridal is such an important business for us; this is a natural,” Alexander Bolen, chief executive officer of Oscar de la Renta, told WWD.com. The stylistic choice sure supports the concept as it is simple and extremely classy.
Originally, the intent was to make the blue cap out of Larimar stone for an extra luxurious touch, however, the cost prohibitive idea was quickly put aside. Instead, the label used plastic to replicate the sophistication of the stone. The scent bouquet is definitely suited for a bride to be and the floral bouquet which opens up with spectacular mandarin and linden blossom notes are beautifully blended with “stephanotis”, a white flower commonly found in bridal bouquets. The seductive set of notes is already enjoying success. Only days after its launch, the demand is extremely high. So high, in fact that customers can only order six units max every thirty days.
The seductive new scent is available in different versions: 1.7-oz. eau de parfum which retails for $85, a 3.4-oz. size that retails for $115. Furthermore, those who wish to enjoy the scent in a different form can buy a scented candle with the designer’s signature logo on it for $65. The new Oscar de la Renta fragrance can be found at Saks Fitfh Avenue and will also hit Bloomingdales soon.
