Most good homemade lip scrub recipes contain honey, that can be replaced with vegetable glycerine if you’re struggling with candida, and an exfoliation agent that helps get rid of dead skin cells.

Brown Sugar and Olive Oil Lip Scrub

Mix 2 tablespoons of brown sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil in a small bowl. Gently rub the mixture on your lips for at least 10 seconds, before rinsing them with warm water. Keep this homemade lip scrub in your refrigerator and follow up each exfoliation with petroleum jelly for soft lips.

Honey and Almond Oil Easy Homemade Lip Scrub

Warm 1 tablespoon of organic honey in the microwave for a few seconds and mix it with 1 tablespoon of almond oil and 2 tablespoons of granulated white sugar. Apply the scrub to your lips in circular motions, then wipe it off with a damp cotton ball and follow up with a moisturizer.

If you’re not a big fan of almond oil, you can replace it with jojoba oil or coconut oil for this simple homemade lip scrub recipe.

Baking Soda Lip Scrub

Make a gritty paste using baking soda and water and rub it on your lips with an old toothbrush with soft and straight bristles. Baking soda is used in a lot of great homemade lip scrub recipes, but it can be a bit too harsh for very frequent use.

Honey and Mint Homemade Lip Scrub

For a refreshing feel after exfoliating your lips, use 2 tablespoons of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 drop of peppermint oil. Apply with your finger tips in circular motions and rinse it with warm water before applying a good lip balm.

Brown Sugar and Shea Butter Lip Scrub

For the most complete nourishing effect for your lips, mix 1 tablespoon of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of honey. After mixing well, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil, mix again and finally add 1 teaspoon of softened (warm) shea butter. Gently rub a dime size amount on your lips for a good exfoliation and keep the mixture refrigerated for as much as 2 weeks.

Regular exfoliation of the lips with a natural homemade lip scrub can help soften your lips, but it also allows moisture from lip balm to penetrate your lips better. Use a homemade lip scrub twice a week when your lips are dry or flaky or once a week or every two weeks to make sure they won’t ever get chapped again.
