Paris Couture Fall 2020 means five different names. Five fashion houses, five labels, five visions, and five ways of imagining art, couture, shapes and fabrics. Paris Couture Fall 2020 means Chanel, Elie Saab, Givenchy, Christian Dior and Armani Prive.
Chanel Couture Fall 2020
Chanel was firmly set on daywear, and Karl Lagerfeld once again proved his creativity and vision, translating them into a new proportion-miniskirt in front, long panel in the back. Grand Palais in Paris was the perfect scene for such a voluptuous show, consisting of pleated chiffon asymmetrical dresses and embellished tulle.
Lagerfeld imagined his collection in charcoal and chocolate, black and silver. The show ended with Lara Stone in a ruffled mini, accompanied by Baptiste Giabiconi.
Elie Saab Couture Fall 2020
Elie Saab chose the opposite of Chanel when it comes to colors. His collection was all white and consisted of 46 looks. Symmetry was one again left aside, as Saab was more interested in the harmony behind symmetric shapes.
Paris Couture Week Fall 2020, Elie Saab created asymmetrical sleeved open-back minis in boiled wool, silk swing dresses, all draped in paillettes. The absolute star of this show was, no doubt, paillette-embroidered swing coat, studded with organza flowers and plumes, the strongest proof of Saab’s versatility and vision.
Givenchy Couture Fall 2020
Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy had in mind for the Couture week, a rather dramatic and flashy collection.
He put it all there, on the runway – angsty rings laced-up boots, black, evening dresses, incredibly transparent, almost nude, jet beads and resin-like cones instead of iridescent sequins and bustier-centric gowns. Givenchy gave us a very theatrical haute couture collection.
Dior Couture Fall 2020
Christian Dior aka John Galliano, have a different perspective on fashion, art, and time, that’s why models took their time on the runway and posed a lot. This was a great opportunity to admire gorgeous fuchsia jacket, molded and belted to perfection, worn with a flesh-toned girdle and leggings.
For this collection, Galliano transformed lingerie into a key-piece, with nude soutien-gorge replacing tops, and laced corsets and silk slips being all there, upfront. Diamond jewelry worked just perfectly with this special collection.
Armani Prive Fall 2020 Couture
Armani Prive meant lots of attitude. This means tuxedo jackets featuring pagoda shoulders, straight-leg and tapered trousers, asymmetrical zippers and 4 entirely jeweled pantsuits.
