Alexander McQueen’s resort 2020 collection brought a surprising array of 40s inspired looks. Creative director Sarah Burton always manages to keep fans of the brand on their toes by constantly coming up with unexpected collections defined by exciting style perspectives that bring inspirational looks. The designer prepared an array of couture-quality opulent ensembles for the fall 2020 collection and conditioned fashionistas to expect a similar approach and then went completely against the principle, creating ultra tamed options for resort 2020.
The Alexander McQueen resort 2020 collection takes inspiration from World War II workwear which receives a surprisingly laid back interpretation. The label’s preference for structural pieces is still noticeable yet the tone is much more romantic this time. Floral prints and floral textural motifs, delicate embroideries and patchwork details evoke the ‘flower power’ feel of the memorable decade which seems to have a delicate 70s undertone if we take the multitude of flared pants and pantsuits into account.
Despite the apparent laid back allure of the ensembles comprised in the new Alexander McQueen resort 2020 collection, the label doesn’t neglect military accents. Since military patterns would be an overly simplistic addition given the label’s background, the brand brings fab utilitarian accents and eye-catching structural accents like exaggerated utility pockets and military belts. Nipped waist jackets and modern oversized coats are the brand’s suggestion for a trendy vibe in the months to come.
Since the defining motifs of the new Alexander McQueen are utilitarian and bohemian, it comes as little surprise that statement killer heels and over the top accessories don’t find their way into the latest line from the label. Instead, the brand brings an exciting array of gorgeous low heel sandals, practical sandals and relatively subdued metallic bracelets which beautifully highlight the decade’s spirit.
