The 3.1 Philip Lim for Target collection will soon make its much awaited debut. With the most interesting pieces of the line already revealed, the debate on whether all the hype behind the collaboration was justified is ready to begin. If you ask us, the 100 piece collection doesn’t disappoint, especially since it was more or less on the designer’s mind for about 5 years before he finally decided to take the plunge into the world of designer collaborations.
“It’s been a long time coming. The courtship’s been like five years, and it was about timing and having something worth saying,” Philip Lim explained. The line consists of womenswear and menswear, purses, shoes and travel accessories, all of which reflect the luxury label’s DNA. In an interview for Fashionista.com, he stated that the biggest challenge he faced was derived from his desire to create a variety of versatile pieces that could easily be worn on a regular basis: “I think the most difficult was to create a cohesive wardrobe consisting of everyday staples that would not get lost in a sea of clothes, that people would have the desire to have and to wear. I think the most simple things are the hardest things to do.”
Still, though they make up a significant part of the new line, utilitarian pieces are not the sole focus of the new 3.1 Philip Lim for Target lookbook. The items are divided into three categories: Morning, Noon and Night, each with its own chic set of inspirational looks. Standouts from the new line include classic trench coats, funky pop art inspired crewneck sweatshirts with “Boom” written on them, lots of leopard printed pieces, amazing dresses and, of course the gorgeous variations of the the iconic 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli satchel in cool tones like black, yellow, red and blue.
We have a strong feeling that these cool handbags, which come in both small and large sizes will be the first items to be sold out from the new 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target collection. After all, the CFDA award for 2020 Accessory Designer of the Year is the designer’s most notable recent accomplishment. The clothing for the new line will be retailing for prices between $19.99 to $299.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $59.99 for accessories. If you’ve spotted any must-have(s) in the new 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target lookbook, mark your calendar for September 15, the day these goodies will arrive at target.com and in Target stores.
