So far, the New York Fashion Week spring 2020 edition brought a multitude of interesting ideas for casual style lovers. Minimalism adapts will be delighted to know that the new season will bring many simple modern alternatives worth taking into account. Designers Robert Tagliapietra and Jeffrey Costello decided to look into their own wardrobes to find inspiration for the new line and add a feminine spin to it. The results were extremely interesting. There were many vibrantly toned mid length skirts and colorful cardigans which exuded femininity and sophistication, but at the same time, the masculine inspired shirts brought an interesting balance. At Rag & Bone a sense of minimalism prevailed and the concept of soft geometry was once again beautifully expressed. Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright took inspiration from the ’90s and brought a variety of oversize jackets, pleated skirts for a feminine allure and included a few leather pieces for a hint of edginess. Peter Som explored the sporty side of femininity by taking inspiration from surf. The looks sent down the runways were bold, edgy yet ladylike in an extremely modern perspective. If other designers used geometric prints and abstract motifs in moderation, he made them the focal point of his collection as it was the exact thing which highlighted the theme of the new line. Feminine pieces with a subtle retro allure was the idea sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann focused on for their new line. The duo brought an array of feminine dresses, elegant jumpsuits and chic high waist pants. The label also brought metallic accents, a myriad of abstract prints and chic floral motifs. From a chromatic standpoint, chic pastel tones dominated the runway.
