As we prepare for the first Paris Fashion Week spring 2020 presentations, we can’t help but think about some of the collections we’ve spotted in the last days of the Milan Fashion Week. As some of Italy’s biggest labels have presented their style approach for the upcoming year, we’ve noticed that there are plenty of varied interpretations of femininity, however modern twists always seem be the ones that enjoy the most popularity. Here are some of the most interesting lines centered around the idea of modern femininity:
MFW Spring 2020: Roberto Cavalli
Given the fact that his Just Cavalli spring 2020 collection was defined by an explosion of color and a bold prints mashup, most fashionistas would have expected to see a more toned down variation of the same theme, however it wasn’t what the designer had in mind. Instead, the designer focused on old Hollywood glamor without forgoing sexiness, which is deeply embedded in the brand’s heritage.
The line brought long, loose silhouettes and a more subdued take on some of the designer’s favorite motifs: snake prints, fur, tiny beads and intricate embroideries. Even though he kept his creations relatively subdued, the rule did not apply to accessories which were filled with micro-studs, charms or tassels. MFW Spring 2020: Salvatore Ferragamo
Creative director Massimiliano Giornetti worked with a well defined palette of neutral tones of ivory, cream, vanilla, olive and navy blue for his new collection. The designer mixed masculine and feminine vibes, as he didn’t subscribe to the idea that feminine is necessarily delicate, thus the new line is “feminine, but it’s not fragile.” The line featured chic military-inspired jackets, chic asymmetric skirts, languid satin dresses and a variety of snakeskin accents. MFW Spring 2020: Giorgio Armani
The Giorgio Armani spring 2020 collection, reserved for the last day of the Milan Fashion Week spring 2020 carried the title “Lights and Shadows”. Once again, the designer focused on softness and fluidity, just like in his spring 2020 Emporio Armani line. Loose silhouettes, abstract bloom motifs and luxurious lightweight fabrics defined the new line. Unlike many sheer pieces we’ve seen in previous collections, the designer’s approach was among the best ones as all the designs were easy to wear. MFW Spring 2020: Gianfranco Ferré
Gianfranco Ferré designers, Federico Piaggi and Stefano Citron, focused on architectural shapes with an easily distinguishable eighties allure, honoring the label’s defining aesthetic approach. The duo chose a conservative chromatic palette which revolved mostly around ivory, beige and blue tones. MFW Spring 2020: Ermanno Scervino
Designer Ermanno Scervino stated that he tried to focus on casual wear a little more for the spring 2020 season, however the overall impression was that his new creations aren’t exactly fit for everyday wear as they have a more elegant allure than your typical wardrobe workhorses. Sporty jackets decorated generously with crystals, silk pants, flirty dresses, chic trench coats in bold tones were just some of the options the designer brought into the spotlight to highlight his idea of “a new daywear”.
