PFW Spring 2020 Trends: Oversized Coats, Boxy Shapes & Denim

The latest collections presented at Paris Fashion Week spring 2020 were anything but boring. Fun, sporty and edgy were the buzzwords for many fashion labels, each with its own unique set of interpretations. Boxy jackets, cropped tops, oversized coats and denim pieces received plenty of interesting interpretations, but there were also plenty of surprises show-wise. By far the most unique presentation of the Paris Fashion Week was Rick Owens’. The designer stared runway diversity in the face and took it to a whole new level. Here are our favorite PFW looks:

For his first line for the Paco Rabanne brand, designer Julien Dossena chose a retro futuristic approach with plenty of sportswear influences. Key highlights from the show were cargo pants with plenty of zipper details, boxy bomber jackets, cool metallic short dresses and sexy miniskirts, tailored overcoats, cool sweatshirts or athletic tank tops. When the brand chose its new creative director it stated that: “His radical and innovative interpretation of the Paco Rabanne style will allow us to firmly establish our collections in the world of the most avant-garde and desirable brands on the market,” and it seems that these hopes will be turned into a reality if this line is any indication. View more from: Paco Rabanne spring 2020 collection

PFW Spring 2020 Trends: Oversized Coats, Boxy Shapes & Denim

If these don’t seem like your typical models, it’s because they’re not! Rick Owens sent real women down the runway to present his spring 2020 line, proving that he takes the issue of runway diversity very seriously. He went to four US colleges and picked women of different races, sizes and shapes and created his very own team of step dancers/warriors. It was both a fashion presentation and a performance. As for the clothes, military influences definitely dominated. Key pieces from the new line were sculpted leather vests, tunics, shorts and cool sneakers. View more from: Rick Owens spring 2020 collection
