The Rihanna for River Island holiday 2020 collection is the star’s last line for the British high-street retailer. All good things must eventually come to an end, but when Rihanna is involved, we can always count on a grand finale (case in point: the Riri Hearts MAC holiday 2020 line). The last Rihanna for River Island collection takes inspiration from the ’90s in order to bring interesting pieces with a festive allure.
According to River Island boss, Ben Lewis, the star was very involved in the creative process: “We’ve had an amazing year working with Rihanna. She’s been an inspiration for our creative teams to work with and we’ve been constantly impressed by the amount of time and energy she’s invested in the project. Reactions to the collaboration have been very positive from fans around the world and we’re excited to see how they respond to her last collection for River Island,” he added.
The creative freedom she was given was one of the things the singer most appreciated about her collaboration with River Island. “With River Island, everything was brand new in the beginning. They gave me creative freedom to do whatever I wanted to do”, adding that she wanted to incorporate her ideas from the past seasons in the new line, adapting shapes and fabrics to meet the challenges the cold season brings.
Despite the fact that the singer had seasonal holidays in mind when she designed the new options, most of the new alternatives aren’t fit for glamorous parties. Many of the pieces are sporty, functional and have a cool tomboyish allure, being ideal for everyday wear. Varsity jackets, denim jackets and jumpsuits, tartan pants and fuzzy white hats are some of the coolest trendy options the star brought for the cold days to come. While tomboyish accents dominate, Rihanna didn’t give up femininity altogether. She also brought several chic floral printed dresses which tone down the masculine allure of the new offerings.
The 40-piece Rihanna x River Island collection for holiday 2020 also features some festive choices such as metallic blazers and chic velvet gowns. The line will hit the stores on November 7, however, those who want to make sure that they will be able to get their hands on the desired piece should know that it will be available for pre-order starting with October 31st. Going the pre-order route is probably the smart way to go as her creations tend to sell out fast.
