Hooray! It’s time for a new collaboration resulting into some lust-worthy goodies! We’re talking about London based designer Michael van der Ham teaming up with Brora in order to create a super-cool and chic knitwear collection! And indeed the result is a fab, exquisite medley of color, delicate fabrics and clever design. Van der Ham, who is renowned for his sartorial signature of mismatching different references in each item of clothing, told Vogue UK that, “I knew about Brora’s high-quality knitwear and how all their production is in Scotland. I really love working on knitwear and it was great to focus so much on full cashmere pieces. Normally for me, knits are part of a much bigger collection of wovens too.”
So, for the collaboration with Brora, the designer effortlessly lends his signature to the Brora aesthetic. The result? Well, a feminine collection of innovative textures with elegant and bold multi-coloured designs woven into the garments, known as Intarsia knits. “I always like the trying out of ideas, even if we don’t end up using it all,” said van der Ham. “From trialling different techniques or shapes, it’s always fun to develop your original ideas and see them transform and progress.”
The Michael van der Ham and Brora 12-piece capsule collection features colorful mohair and cashmere cardigans, jumpers, dresses, pencil skirts, but also season-appropriate accessories such as hats, gloves, and scarves. “I started with stitches, all different types and weights, so I could mix them within the pieces and the range,” he told ELLE.com. “It was fun to mix lace stitches with heavier moss stitches.” His favorite piece is, “the lace-stitch mohair jumper in pale blue with orange trim and mismatched back.”
The line is available online and selected shops including Symons Street, Marylebone & Notting Hill.
