4 Homemade Turmeric Face Packs For All Skin Types

Turmeric is known as the ‘golden spice of life’. Traditionally, turmeric is applied to Indian brides before the wedding to make the skin glow and shine. In addition, turmeric is popularly used as a basic ingredient in various skin creams as it is beneficial for quick recovery and healing. It is not only used as a basic ingredient in Indian cooking but also relieves one of pain and other problems when consumed with hot milk.

Today, I have for you some basic, easy and effective Turmeric face packs. Please note that you do a patch test before application of the masks on the face to avoid allergies and irritation.

1. Flour, Olive Oil And Turmeric Face Pack:

This mask is meant to moisturize and deeply nourish the skin. At the same time it removes impurities and cleanses the skin. To make the mask take 2 heaped teaspoons of multipurpose flour in a clean and dry bowl. Add one leveled teaspoon of turmeric powder and one teaspoon olive oil and mix well. Add water make a smooth paste of the consistency that it does not flow when applied. Now using the back side of a spoon apply a thick layer of the mask to the face, leaving the eye and mouth area. Let it dry for a few minutes, and then rinse off with warm water.

2. Yogurt, Honey And Turmeric Face Pack:

The mask is an excellent recipe for de-tanning, dryness and early signs of aging. To make the mask, take 2 teaspoons of thick yogurt, one big spoon honey and half a teaspoon of turmeric. Mix well to form a thick paste. Apply on the skin and leave for 20 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water. There might be yellowness on the skin after first wash, but washing with warm water for a while helps get rid of the yellowness. The mask should be used up to thrice a week to see its benefits on aging skin.

3. Gram Flour, Milk, Lemon And Turmeric Face Pack:

This is one of the traditional recipes to bring glow and get a fair complexion using turmeric. To make the pack, use 2 heaped teaspoons gram flour, one teaspoon lemon juice and 3-4 teaspoon of raw milk. Smoothen the mixture and add more water/milk if required. Apply the paste on the face and neck. Leave the pack to dry for about 15 minutes. Thereafter, take little milk and rub the pack on the face for about 3 minutes and rinse with cold water. Gram flour need not suit all types of skin and might make the skin dry, so use a little moisturizer after removing the pack. This is one of the best turmeric face packs.

4. Sandalwood Powder And Turmeric Face Mask For Oily Skin:

This is a refreshing pack to smooth the skin and also clear acne and pimples. You need a spoonful of sandalwood powder (readily available at stores) and equal quantity of Turmeric Powder. Add about 2-3 teaspoons of rose water and mix well. Use water if the paste is not smooth. Apply a thick layer to the skin especially the pimple and acne zones. Dab cotton pads in rose water and use over the eyes. Lie down till the paste dries if you can then rinse thoroughly with cold water. You can also use rose water like a toner after removing the pack. It is the best turmeric face pack for oily skin.

Besides the above methods of applying turmeric pack, it can also be mixed with plain water and applied to the face directly. After you remove the mask, it leaves you skin yellow colored. This gradually fades after 2 washes.

Turmeric has excellent antiseptic and anti-oxidant properties that make it effective in treating various skin problems. If turmeric does not suit the skin, it can be replaced with neem powder for many face masks.
