Many blonde celebrities hide their natural hair color under darker shades or gorgeous reds, while others experiment with lighter shades, then quickly go back to darker tones that suit them much better.
Check out the biggest celebrities who look bad blonde, and should definitely stick to darker colors. From experiments with really light shades to really bad ombre effects, here are the celebs that failed to make a good impression as blondes.
Angelina Jolie
While she technically hides her dirty blonde hair under dark colors, Angelina Jolie did experiment with going light blonde once. She dyed her hair in 2020 for the movie “Life or Something Like It”.
The movie failed to earn even half its budget at the box office, and we’re not saying that Angelina’s blonde look had something to do with it, but she never tried it again.
Kim Kardashian
She’s definitely one of the celebrities who look bad blonde and she knows it. Kim Kardashian has tried to go for a lighter color, both with hair dye and with a wig for Halloween, but the results weren’t really successful. “Kanye likes the blonde,” she told People magazine, but she was wise enough to go back to something closer to her natural hair color.
Anne Hathaway
Showing up at the 2020 Mel Gala with a blonde pixie cut, Anne Hathaway turned heads for all the wrong reasons. The actress chose a shade that was simply too light, while keeping her eyebrows dark. Her shade of blonde ended up making her complexion look washed out, while her brown eyes and brows clashed with her hair.
Jessica Biel
We don’t know if Justin Timberlake is a fan of Jessica Biel’s blonde look, but the actress has only tried it once, in 2020. Unfortunately for her, she’s one of the celebrities who look bad blonde, but she realized that pretty quickly. The lightest shade of blonde she tried just washed her out completely, so she quickly went back to a richer dark tone.

Zooey Deschanel
Even though she’s been a brunette for most of her time in the limelight, Zooey Deschanel has a lighter natural hair color and she went blonde more than once. After starring in “Elf” in 2020, she decided to leave the look behind and has consistently remained a brunette, which really works for her and highlights her gorgeous complexion.
Victoria Beckham
After finding fame as a brunette, Victoria Beckham also tried to go blonde after “Spice Girls” broke up and she married David Beckham. She’s one of the celebrities who look bad blonde, particularly since she went too far with the fake tan and bronzer while she was rocking her blonde pixie cut. Once she started getting into fashion, she left the lighter shades and her smile behind.
Katharine McPhee
She was runner-up on “American Idol” and captured her fans’ hearts as a brunette. She tried to go blonde more than once, but could never find the perfect shade. Opting for ash blonde shades was definitely not a good idea, and she eventually went back to what works best for her. The singer and actress tried to make the lighter colors work with thinner eyebrows, but that didn’t help much either.
Jennifer Love Hewitt
After giving birth to her daughter, Jennifer Love Hewitt also made a big change to her hair, but that only proved that she’s one of the celebrities who look bad blonde. Going for an ombre effect, the actress didn’t manage to escape the dreaded orange, and her thick highlights really stopped the look from becoming a success.
Leighton Meester
The “Gossip Girl” style definitely shines as a brunette. While lighter highlights on a darker base look good on her, her choice of blonde colors just didn’t work. The blonde look clashed with her complexion and was thankfully abandoned pretty quickly.

Jessica Alba
While she played a blonde in the “Fantastic Four” movie and its sequel, Jessica Alba had a harder time in finding the right shade of blonde in real life. A few lighter highlights definitely add dimension to her look as a brunette, but in the end, she’s one of the celebrities who look bad blonde and should stick to a shade that suits her better.
