Alexa Chung is Teen Vogue‘s November 2020 cover girl. The 27-year-old British beauty looks pretty in a Stella McCartney dress and her famous short bob. In the interview, Alexa sits down for a chat with the magazine and dishes on her well-known personal style, her fashion icons, her new show, but also on the royal wedding and being a newly single.
Alexa will present her own fashion reality series called ’24 Hour Catwalk’, where designers will compete against each other in runway challenges. Chung will be aided by a panel of fashion-industry professionals: designer Cynthia Rowley, PR maven James LaForce, and social scribe Derek Blasberg. On her upcoming show, the gorgeous It girl told Teen Vogue that, “I only wanted to do this if it was going to be a genuine search for designers and if I would be working alongside people who are legitimate in the fashion industry.”
The model-turned-VJ-turned-designer is no stranger to fashion and her name is always related to the title of ‘style icon’. But does Alexa have fashion muses? Inside the magazine, she admits that, “Jane Birkin, Penelope Tree, Jean Shrimpton — those are all the people whose style I admire.”
Her effortlessly cool and sometimes quirky way of putting clothes together has made her become a real inspiration to designers, while girls around the world try to imitate her outfit changes. Alexa also talks in the interview with Teen Vogue about her personal style. “I love schoolgirl style; it’s relaxed but smart, boyish but girly — all my favorite juxtapositions in one,” she told the magazine.
On the royal wedding, Alexa says that, “I massively bought into the fairy-tale wedding. But the fact that the press were giving Kate all this fanfare before she looked amazing is a bit weird, because it’s obvious she got a stylist. Regardless, no one cares about the mechanics behind why someone looks good.”
Alexa, who was in a relationship with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner until July 2020, also opened up about how it feels to be newly single. “It’s good to be on your own in an exciting city. This is when you do stuff for yourself. Right now is a real turning point. Everything I thought I knew is no longer. I think this is the year I have to grow up,” she confessed.
