It’s a very busy and exciting year for Anna Paquin. The star is preparing for one of the most important roles of her life as she is getting ready to embrace motherhood alongside ‘True Blood’ co-star Stephen Moyer. The 29 year old star sits down and chats with Redbook mag on a variety of topics ranging from her view on motherhood and personal appearance to chemistry on the True Blood set.
Just because she’s expecting twins and she’s dealing with the entire pregnancy experience doesn’t mean that she’s suddenly all maternal and everything. The star confesses that she has to deal with two very different perspectives and outlooks of life: “I have a side that’s very nesty, and another that thinks, ‘Let’s lock up the house and go away for five months,’” she states.
Fans of the ‘True Blood’ series who have grown accustomed to her character’s personality might be surprised to find out that she’s not as open on the subject as her character and that she had to ‘fake it’: “I’m a big believer in ‘fake it to make it.’ I went out and bought some incredibly short shorts and a push-up bra that I knew were going to be a part of my new life. It’s not that I’m a prude, but I’m not a massive exhibitionist, either.”
The same laid back attitude transpires when she starts talking about her personal appearance. Like many women she is the one that judges herself the harshest, however she learned to move towards acceptance and body confidence, gaining a fairly sensitive approach: “I’m my harshest critic…but at a certain point, you need to embrace who you are and the whole package that comes along with it. For me, it was cutting myself some slack and not trying to be something that I think is perfect or ideal.”
One must indeed wonder how her partner, Steve Moyer deals with all the racy aspects involved in the storyline, mainly the spicy scenes involving Alexander Skarsgard. It appears that there are no hard feelings between the two as both of them act very professionally: “We feel completely comfortable together. Steve [Moyer] and Alex are buddies. Its nothing like, ‘Oh, hi, nice to meet you. Now let’s take off our clothes and go into the fog.’ Everyone is very respectful of each other’s boundaries…They’re all very gentlemanly about it.”
