Beyonce Covers L’Officiel Magazine March 2020

Beyonce is featured on the cover of “L’Officiel” magazine, the March 2020 issue. For their 90th birthday, the French magazine thought of a special photo shoot having as theme the African Queen. Beyonce seemed to be the perfect celebrity to star in this shoot paying tribute to Nigerian musician and human rights activist Fela Kuti.

Fela Kuti was one of Africa’s most controversial musicians who throughout his life fought for the rights of the common men, being an activist for Pan-Africanism and anti-colonialism, his beliefs and lifestyle often landing him in jail. It seems that he will heavily influence Beyonce’s upcoming fourth studio album.

Beyonce looks amazing on the cover wearing a gold dress from the Gucci Spring/Summer 2020 collection. As always, Beyonce reveals a flawless look, rocking in the inside editorial Victorian dresses, designer clothes, haute couture suits, African-themed clothing pieces, but also a dress designed by her mother.

However, rumors say that this special editorial, which is considered as being a return to Beyonce’s African roots, managed to generate some controversies due to the fact that her face was voluntarily darkened. This after the 29-year-old singer was seen with a lighter skin complexion than usual, and was accused of bleaching her skin.

This is what the magazine says:

“The Fashion magazine is about to celebrate its 90th birthday. To celebrate this anniversary, the festivities start with the March issue, with Beyoncé on the cover. She agreed to pose for an incredible fashion shoot, with the theme of African Queen, paying a tribute to the legendary Fela Kuti (a political singer who died in 1997). Far from the glamourous Sasha Fierce, the beauty posed for the magazine with amazing fashion designers clothes, but also in a dress created by her mother. A return to her African roots, as you can see on the picture, on which her face was voluntarily darkened. All the pictures will be available in the collector edition, on sell at the end of this month.”
