Many celebrities shares selfies of their own on social media and are very accommodating to fans who request a picture. Plenty of others refuse, and some even get really rude about it, either because they want their privacy or they just think selfies are stupid.
Find out more about a few top celebrities who refuse selfies with fans, or who make a big deal about it. You might get an autograph if you meet any of them, but don’t ask them to take a selfie with you unless you want things to get awkward.
Dakota Johnson
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” star is getting a lot of unwanted attention since the movie grosses over $500 million worldwide. Dakota Johnson doesn’t seem to care for taking selfies with her fans.
According to Bang Showbiz, she was already refusing to interact with her fans even before the movie came out, so it will probably only get worse.
Leonardo DiCaprio
The actor values his privacy, and he also seems to be one of the celebrities who refuse selfies with fans. Page Six reported that Leo even refused a fan a selfie even though it was her birthday. When approached by the woman in his booth at a New York nightclub, he replied “Sorry, not tonight,” but did wish her a happy birthday.
Kanye West
Even though Kanye accepts selfie requests, he always looks like he really doesn’t want to. The rapper doesn’t just refuse to smile, he either looks bored or pissed off in many fan selfies. However, he might be smiling on the inside because of how “cool” he looks. “When you see paintings in an old castle, people are not smiling ‘cause it just wouldn’t look as cool,” Kanye explained.
Anna Wintour
“I’ve never taken a selfie, and I don’t intend to start now,” the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue US declared in 2020. However, she broke her rule just a few days later during New York Fashion Week. While Wintour is no longer a selfie virgin, she went back to being one of the celebrities who refuse selfies with fans.

The British actress also outed herself as one of the celebrities who refuse selfies with fans at the 2020 Jameson Empire Awards. “I wouldn’t dream of taking a selfie with anyone. God almighty! That’s to take narcissism to its unspeakable extremes. No, get a life, everyone. Just saying,” Thompson explained on the red carpet.
Kirstie Alley
Even though she’s not opposed to interacting with her fans, Kirstie Alley won’t be accepting any selfie requests either. Approached by a fan on the streets of New York, the actress politely refused, according to Radar Online. “I hate selfies, I’m so sorry! You can take a photo of me, but I don’t want… I hate selfies,” she told her disappointed fan.

It was completely inappropriate. Think about it,” Cooper tweeted back.
Kirsten Dunst
While many celebrities who refuse selfies with fans just express their opinion about them on the red carpet, Kirsten Dunst took it one step further, with a short film that criticized selfie culture. In “Aspirational”, the only thing the fans asking for selfies care about is… “Can you tag me?”
