Demi Lovato Talks Free Drugs, Alcohol and Rehab

The 19-year-old singer and former Disney star managed to rise above all her severe problems and build up a promising career as a talented songstress. In the interview given to Fabulous magazine, Demi Lovato talks about free drugs and alcohol numerous nightclub promoters offered her during concerts and other events.

One of the factors that made her choose the dark side for a period was actually her lack of confidence. Demi confessed that, “It’s something I don’t really want to talk about,[…]What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room. I’d come crashing down and would try to find a way to recreate that feeling, to stay ‘up’.”

The singer revealed that, “Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my ass.” Demi also added “I thought they were my friends. I thought I was having fun. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says ‘no’. That’s why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me.”

Suffering from bulimia, depression and even reported drug abuse left the young singer exhausted. Demi spent no less than three months in rehab. Things couldn’t get worse when she found out that the industry has a negative opinion about her as a celeb and singer.

According to Demi, she couldn’t win back her confidence yet, “I’m not saying I’m perfect, or fixed, but I am learning to love and accept myself. My outlook is more positive and I am happy.” She also revealed to Fabulous magazine, “There were times I wish I’d been a normal teenager so I could make mistakes and not be scrutinised. But I don’t mourn the childhood I never had. I’d rather have been traveling the world and making albums than at high school.”

We’re looking forward to see her future projects.
