She has just finished seventh grade, yet she already worked with some of the most renowned directors in the business such as Francis Ford Coppola and J.J. Abrams, while last year she appeared in Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’. We are talking about lovely 13-year-old actress, Elle Fanning, who is featured in the June/July issue of ‘BlackBook’ magazine. In the interview, Elle talks about planning to visit Paris, filming ‘Super 8’, her big sister, Dakota, and the best acting advice she got from Francis Ford Coppola.
“He told me, ‘You always have to love it. You can never just act because someone else wants you to. You always have to feel it in your heart,’ which, well, I thought that was great. And it’s so true,” Elle says.
As for filming ‘Super 8’ with J.J. Abrams, the young actress told the magazine that, “J.J. was so good with us. When we were doing the big train-crash sequence, all these explosions were going on, and there were so many people everywhere—and then you have these six kids. He had to take care of us and make sure that we weren’t getting into trouble. There was fire. He’s obsessed with his iPhone, obsessed with Angry Birds. He’d just be sitting in his chair playing Angry Birds.”
‘Super 8’ will hit theaters on June 10. Speaking about this adventure movie with a super-big-budget and the big secrecy around it, Elle told in the interview with ‘BlackBook’ that, “We were sort of scared. We didn’t want to slip up and say anything.” The actress admits that when they got the scripts, “It was just, like, the biggest thing ever.”
Fanning is a precociously talented child who by the age of 4 has already proved her incredible acting talent in movies like ‘The Door in the Floor’, ‘Babel’, and ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. Of a possible professional clash with her big sister, Dakota, Elle says that, “We haven’t gotten really competitive with movies yet. I don’t think we ever will.”
What about her plans for the summer? It seems that Elle would love to see Paris. Even though she has never been there, Paris is Fanning’s favorite city in the world. “I want to go there so bad,” she told the magazine.
