When it comes to celebrity life, people tend to think that nothing can ‘rock the ground’ of celebs, but Frankie proves just the opposite by revealing to the magazine that she’s been dealing with depression and panic attacks for eight years. She tells Glamour that:
“I felt that I was worthless, that I was ugly, that I didn’t deserve anything. I thought people would think, ‘What have you got to be depressed about?’”
However, the help that she received from hospital staff and patients helped Frankie push through and feel ‘better’. The fact that she received full information with regards to what she’s feeling and support from various people enabled Frankie to regain her creativity, which she states she had lost for years. She says:
“A doctor told me it’s like having asthma: it’s something you have, it’s not going to go away. That made me feel better. There was no one point where I was ‘better’, but I noticed I started to be creative again, which I hadn’t been in years.”
The fact that she understood what was going on and the fact that she once tried to hide the fact that she was dealing with depression and panic attacks determined Ms. Sandford to share her personal struggles with the magazine in the attempt to signal to other depression sufferers to seek help. She told Glamour that her bandmates, who had no idea said:
“They were like, ‘Why didn’t you tell us?’ I’d got so good at covering it up, I didn’t confide in anyone. It’s important that you talk to someone as soon as possible. Get help and advice from your GP, a friend or a parent.”
