The March 2020 InStyle UK issue features supermodel Heidi Klum. While seeing the former VS angel on the cover of the prestigious magazine would be a reason to rejoice, the interview highlights makes us a little sad. The star dedicates a significant part of the interview to describe her relationship with her soon to be ex-husband, Seal.
From the moment they first met, to renewing their vows and the relationship dynamics, everything seems like a cruel coincidence: “Yes, we locked eyes and, well…we were immediately attracted to each other…He’d come into the hotel from the gym and he was sweaty and wanted to take a shower. I said, ‘No, stay with me. I don’t mind’. And he said, ‘No, but I’ll be back’. And he did go to his room. And he did come back. And knowing him now, he was very fast and he’s a man who usually really takes his time. So now, I know he really wanted to come back to me. I’m determined to mark our wedding every year with a really great party. We all work very hard and time goes by so fast and you can stumble over years without symbolic peaks in your life to remember — so we create those.
“I don’t know why we work, my husband and I. We just do. We are black and white — Yin and Yang. To me, his beautiful face, great body, amazing heart, voice, his ability to be a loving, caring person and father…what can I say? He can be mad too and I have a lot of fun with him. He’s off the cuff. He’s not fixed in his ways. And he knows how to handle me. It’s always been really passionate between us.”
On a lighter note, the star dishes on one of her favorite subjects: fashion. The diva states that her absolute favorite accessories are jewels: “I think it comes from having been a model for so long. Back then, I got to wear everything, but I had to hand it back at the end of the day. Perhaps I trained myself not to want everything. Today, if someone likes something in my wardrobe, they can have it!
I do not feel the same way about jewelry, though. I’m such a magpie. I see jewels and have to have them. And they don’t need to be expensive; I get things from flea markets, from my travels. Plus I always wear this [she points to the huge yellow diamond on her ring finger]. I get sentimentally attached to accessories in a way I just don’t with clothes.” Her second collection for QVC definitely supports her views.
Still, she had a lot of fun while posing for the magazine: “I loved this shoot. It’s totally my thing; sophisticated but hip. I’m not afraid of shapes, colors, prints. I’m not worried about fitting in. And what jumped out of my wardrobe at home is the same: the Gallianos, McQueens. I like designers who think outside the box.”
