Her unique beauty and charm seems to have bewitched everyone. We are talking, of course, about Kate Winslet. After appearing in a heavenly TV ad for Lancôme, now the Oscar-winning actress was named as the new face of luxury American knitwear company St. John for the brand’s fall 2020 campaign. Gorgeous Kate is therefore joining a list of famous spokesmodels such as Kelly Gray, Gisele Bündchen, Angelina Jolie and Karen Elson who is the most recent.
George Sharp, creative director, said in a statement that Kate represents the perfect option for St. John. “Kate is an ideal choice for our new campaign. She is an accomplished, beautiful woman with an extraordinary body of work, and one of the most admired actors of her generation.”
The campaign was shot in New Jersey at the historic Loew’s Theater. Kate was lensed by photographer Craig McDean and the images will make the debut in magazines this September.
Last year, model Karen Elson replaced Angelina Jolie who represented the brand for five years. Speaking about their decision, Glenn McMahon, brand’s chief executive, told WWD that, “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette. We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved.”
St. John was founded in 1962 by Robert and Marie Gray and throughout time it became popular for its innovative knits, growing into the global luxury label known today.
The Fall 2020 St. John collection is characterized by a timeless and effortless flair, a great combination of modern and classic elements, suitable for different occasions. Cashmere coats, satin blouses, knit dresses, wide leg pants, sweaters, and satin gowns are some of the key-pieces in the St. John Fall 2020 collection. The good news is that, for the first time, the brand will have a presentation at the beginning of the New York Fashion Week.
