Katherine Heigl graces the January 2020 cover of Elle magazine. In the accompanying interview, the rom-com actress, country-star wife, and now television producer sits down for a chat and opens up about her career, her family, balancing her busy life, and how much she just wants to be liked. Katherine looks gorgeous in an exclusive spread photographed by Carter Smith.

Speaking about her public perception, the 33-year-old actress admits that she has never managed to truly be America’s sweetheart. She explains the reason in the cover story for Elle. “I’ve never really been America’s sweetheart… I had ’em for a second thinking maybe I was. And then I opened my mouth, and it was very clear I wasn’t. There’s so much of my mother’s caustic, sarcastic, irreverent take on things. But I also love and embrace it,” Katherine told the magazine.

Still, Heigl is not sorry for anything she said since she was just telling the truth. However, the only thing she regrets is for having said it aloud. “I look at some of what I had to say, and I’m like, Oh my God, I would tell myself to shut up too,” the beautiful actress confesses.

How does a celebrity manage to have a balanced life in such a hectic world? “I take a stress relief formula from Whole Foods,” Katherine says. “I call them my happy pills. Yeah, it helps me. In fact, I should’ve taken one today. I’ve done it to myself. I’ve created a chaotic life, and then I get on edge because of it,” the actress added.

Even though Heigl became mostly famous for her role in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, you should know that she’s a 20-year veteran in the film industry. She grew up in Connecticut and in 1996 she and her mother, Nancy, moved out West. “The first five or six years in L.A. were hard. I didn’t know anybody. You don’t meet people going on auditions, because everyone is competing. So it’s not like you’re gonna be like, ‘Hey, what are you doing later? You wanna grab lunch?’ So it was just me and Nancy. We watched a lot of Golden Girls, and we made dream journals and read The Artist’s Way.”

Well, Hollywood life can sometimes be rather challenging and difficult. On dealing with the demands of Hollywood, the actress confesses that, “I overdramatize. And I think everything is at stake — my life, my career, my family, everything is at stake if this movie doesn’t do well.”

Speaking about bad press and how much she just wants to be liked, Katherine told Elle that, “I think it’s a female thing. I’m just that a**hole who really wants everyone to like me, and it’s a ridiculous goal and it’s an impossible goal. But I think if I just keep pushing forward and showing myself through and through, they will see me again for what I really am and not what has been sort of spun about me.”
