Katy Perry is the new face of CoverGirl. The pop star is making a series of ads which will debut in the spring of 2020. The first image of the campaign has already been unveiled and it seems like the label opted for a relatively tame, feminine image with a hint of ’90s style.
What qualifies the “Roar” singer for such an enviable position, aside from her previous collaboration with beauty brands like ghd and OPI? Esi Eggleston Bracey, VP and General Manager, CoverGirl Cosmetics offered the answer in press release: “Katy is an amazingly talented singer, songwriter, and performer who has always kept an open heart and been an ‘open book’ in communicating and connecting with her fans. Never afraid to express emotion, strength, vulnerability or independence, Katy is the embodiment of a true CoverGirl – someone we root for, identify with, and get inspiration from. We have been admirers of her music and her style for a long time, and are looking forward to a beautiful journey together.”
Naturally, the star took time to express her gratitude for the offer and highlight once again, the important role makeup has in her life: “In addition to music, I’ve always considered makeup to be a powerful creative avenue of self-expression for me. I’m honoured to partner with CoverGirl and share more colours and textures of my approach to beauty to inspire my audience.”
Though the understated look from the new Katy Perry for CoverGirl campaign doesn’t really do justice to her usual bold choices that made her one of the most influential fashion and beauty icons of the past few years, it seems that “a breadth of bold new beauty looks” created by makeup artist Pat McGrath will follow. For now, beauty enthusiasts who are looking to replicate the look should know that the products used were: CoverGirl TRUBlend Liquid Makeup in Buff Beige 2/425 and CoverGirl Clean Glow Blush in Roses #100, Covergirl LipPerfection in Euphoria #360, CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 3-Kit Shadows in Café Au Lait #105, CoverGirl Brow and Eyemaker Pencil in Midnight Brown #505 and CoverGirl Clump Crusher Extensions by LashBlast in Very Black #840.
Katy, who is replacing Pink as the CoverGirl ambassador is preparing to end the year with some impressive achievements. Not only was she busy promoting her newest fragrance, Killer Queen, she’ll be launching her new album “Prism” next week, on October 22. It seems like she’s one of those women who excel at multitasking.
