Khloe Kardashian has filed for divorce from Lamar Odom at the Los Angeles Superior Court after four years of marriage. The reality star, who is represented by power attorney Laura Wasser, has cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the divorce. For those who watched the problems the couple publicly faced lately, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, however sad it might be. The couple signed an iron-clad prenup contract, so it’s likely that dividing the assets won’t be much of a struggle.
Moreover, spousal support won’t probably be an issue as Khloe doesn’t want it and insists that Lamar doesn’t request it either. According to reports, she will continue to stay in the $4 million Tarzana, Calif., mansion and receive $500,000 for each year of marriage, in addition to being the sole beneficiary of a $10 million life insurance policy, according to RadarOnline.com.
Despite several attempts of reconciliation and couple therapy sessions attended since early November, in the end, Lamar’s arrest for DUI and drug use, his refusal to seek treatment and his extramarital affairs have proved too much for Khloe, who has requested to have the name Odom dropped so she can have her old name back.
Though the star hasn’t made any statements regarding her decision, her recent posts on Instagram show how she’s trying to deal with the heartbreak. On December 7, she added a post about learning to love and accepting hardships as learning experiences: “Dear Human: You’ve got it all wrong. You didn’t come here to master unconditional love. That is where you came from and where you’ll return. You came here to learn personal love. Universal love. Messy love. Sweaty love. Crazy love. Broken love. Whole love. Infused with divinity. Lived through the grace of stumbling. Demonstrated through the beauty of…messing up. Often. You didn’t come here to be perfect. You already are. You came here to be gorgeously human. Flawed and fabulous. And then to rise again into remembering.”
Two days ago, before filling the divorce, her thought seemed to be directed towards self-forgiveness: “I am strong because I’ve been weak. I am fearless because I’ve been afraid. I am wise because I’ve been foolish.”
