It seems that Kim Kardashian is everywhere we look, as she has been featured on several covers this year alone, but it is one cover that seems to have upset Kim, and it’s not because she’s unsatisfied with the pics. It seems that Kim Kardashian is upset over a Turkish Cosmopolitan cover which features her picture in the same month as the Genocide Remembrance Day, which commemorates the victims of the 1915 Armenian genocide caused by Turkey.
Kim Kardashian embraces her Armenian roots and says she had absolutely no idea that she was going to be featured on an issue featured in Turkey. It seems that Kim has done an international photoshoot for Cosmopolitan, photos which went to several magazines published by Cosmo, including the Turkish issue. Apparently Kim Kardashian had no idea that her photos would end-up on a Turkish magazine, although sources tell TMZ that Cosmo does let Kim’s staff know which international magazines will feature her pictures.
The Armenians commemorate the Genocide Remembrance Day on April 24th, and they are furious over the cover. The executive director of the Armenian National Committee of America, Aram Hemparian, told TMZ:
“It’s disrespectful to Kim Kardashian and to all Armenians for the publishers of Cosmopolitan to use her image, without her permission, on the month we mark Turkey’s genocide against the Armenian people.”
To let her fans know the story regarding the Turkish Cosmopolitan issue, Kim Kardashian wrote on her blog that she had no idea. She said:
“I just found out today that I am on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine in Turkey this month. Cosmopolitan Magazine has a number of international editions all around the world that run in various territories, and when I did this shoot for the international covers I had no idea that Turkey was planning to run my story on their cover THIS month, considering Genocide Remembrance Day is this month. My Armenian heritage means a lot to me and I’ve been brought up to be incredibly proud of my family’s background and culture so as an Armenian-American woman it is a huge honor for me to be on the first ever Armenian Cosmopolitan cover.”
