Prepare for battle as it seems that it’s the beginning of yet another celebrity feud, this time it’s between rock’n’roll superstar Gene Simmons from KISS and R&B diva Rihanna. Apparently, Mr. Simmons took time to take aim at Rihanna, labelling her as a ‘fake karaoke’, at a press conference where the band was promoting the new KISS tour with Motley Crue.
According to DailyMail, the KISS frontman blasted Rihanna’s style and stated that they want ‘no fake bulls%$#’. He said:
“We’re sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them. No fake bulls^%$. Leave that to the Rihanna, Shmianna and anyone who ends their name with an A.”
Apparently, Gene Simmons isn’t the only one in the band that feels the same way as according to Billboard, the band’s drummer, Tommy Lee also agreed with his crew member and stated that he doesn’t mean any disrespect regarding Rihanna, that she’s a great singer but still managed to pull out quite a few ‘critiques’. He said:
“No disrespect to Rihanna, she’s a great singer, but we’re in a slump for some s^%$ that has some personality and appeal beyond a bunch of pop stuff that’s floating around out there. I’m glad he said that actually because I don’t think I can bear watching another f&#king award show that is just a little bit better than American Idol. It’s f&#king pathetic to watch people go out and f&#king karaoke with a bunch of lights and video. It’s all completely watered down.”
This is not the first time Gene Simmons blasts the performance of a celebrity as in 2020 he was not shy to speak out about his unhappiness regarding Madonna performing at the Super Bowl 2020 Halftime Show, as he told a TMZ reporter back then that:
“I love all karaoke singers, I love all the girl singers who get up and sing with tapes … shame on you!”
So far there’s no word from Rihanna’s camp, but what do you think about Gene Simmons’s statement targeting Rihanna’s style?
