Lady Gaga Talks Drug Use

She’s one of the most unconventional singers in the music industry due to her style and now Lady Gaga shocks the world once again not through her fashion choice but her honesty as the ‘Born This Way’ singer opened up about loneliness and drugs in an exclusive interview on ‘The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet’.

Although she’s met international fame and managed to conquer an entire world with her non-conformist style and talent, Lady Gaga admits having suffered from depression at the age of 19. The singer reveals on the ‘The Conversation’ that she began cherishing her loneliness. She says:

“I was very depressed when I was 19. I decided to pursue music, so I dropped out of school and I told my parents I didn’t want any money from them. I began to cherish my loneliness. I would go back to my apartment every day and I would just sit there. It was quiet and it was lonely. It was still. It was just my piano and myself. I had a television and I would leave it on all the time just to feel like somebody was hanging out with me.”

It seems that cocaine offered Gaga a little bit of relief and the impression she’s filling the void created by her loneliness, but the singer soon realized that using drugs is not the way to fill the void in her life. She tells Amanda that:

“I started doing cocaine because it was like the drug was my friend. I never did it with other people. It’s such a terrible way to fill that void, because it just adds to that void, because it’s not real.”

She’s not the first celebrity to recognize battling drug use in the past as recently singer Demi Lovato also admitted having used drugs. However, although most people need help to realize that they are not making healthy decisions, Lady Gaga says that she pushed herself to kick her bad habit away. She says that:

“I woke up one day and was like, ‘You’re an a##hole. You’re not an artist. If you were a real f$%#ing artist, you’d be focused on your music. You wouldn’t be spending your money on the white devil. ”
