One of the biggest celebrities of all times that brought inspiration to people all over the world, Madonna manages to surprise with her stunning physique and beauty as she covers the December 2020 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, along with W.E star Andrea Riseborough. Madonna’s bold style made her a superstar back in the ’80s and refreshed the entertainment scene and 30 years later the diva still manages to fill-up the spots at her concerts.

The diva, now 53, has turned her attention towards directing films as well as the fashion scene, creating her own label along with her daughter Lourdes, a label which received its name after the diva’s hit song ‘Material Girl’. However, Madonna didn’t grow up living in fame as she was passed her 20s when she began receiving world recognition. In the interview she gave Harper’s Bazaar, Madonna reveals that she wasn’t all that popular in high school and that she was even made fun of as some kids called her a ‘hairy monster’ as she didn’t want to fit in and refused to shave her armpits. The diva tells the magazine:

“…I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.”

Despite growing up in a Catholic-Italian family in the Midwest, Madonna had a rebellious personality and knew that she wasn’t going to conform just to be like everyone else. Her unique and daring style helped her stand far from the crowd and this set the spotlight on the girl that is now a millionaire and received world recognition for her work as an artist. Being a mother definitely changed things for Madonna and she is trying to make sure her children receive proper education but still manage to maintain their individuality and style. She tells the magazine that:

“Well, I say to Lourdes, schoolwork always comes first, so anything that gets in the way of that falls by the wayside. We put our energy in education. …I also encourage all of my children to ask questions and investigate. I never want my children to come to me and say they want to do something because everyone else is doing it. That doesn’t interest me at all. You need to tell me your personal reasons about why it will benefit you, what you’re going to get out of it, what it means to you. Otherwise, you’re just a robot. You’re not thinking for yourself. Where would you go with your life with this kind of attitude?”

The hard experiences she had to go through until now left Madonna uber-conscious as she states that: “For some reason, I feel like I never left high school, because I still feel that if you don’t fit in, you’re going to get your ass kicked. That hasn’t really changed for me. I’ve always been acutely aware of differences and the way you are supposed to act if you want to be popular.”

Although she looks incredible and has the body of a professional dancer, Madonna states that her age seems to be more of a focus for most people. She says that: “I find whenever someone writes anything about me, my age is right after my name. It’s almost like they’re saying, ‘Here she is, but remember she’s this age, so she’s not that relevant anymore.’”

Although there are negative things that are always going to follow celebrity life, Madonna says that having fun with it is the most important thing of all. Her teenager attitude is still hers as she tells the magazine that: “To have fun, that’s the main issue.
