The “House M.D.” actress Olivia Wilde, has split from Italian prince husband, Tao Ruspoli. The decision was taken mutually after a marriage that lasted eight years. The separation was also confirmed by Wilde’s representative without giving any further information.

A source told “People” that the two did try to save their marriage. “They have been living apart after trying for quite some time to make their relationship work,” said the source.

Another insider close to Olivia Wilde told “Us” that “it was Olivia’s decision…for the typical Hollywood reasons. Her career has exploded and she saw being married is not as much fun.” Olivia Wilde Splits from Italian Prince Husband

Tao Ruspoli, the 35-year-old son of the late Italian Prince Dado Ruspoli, is a documentary filmmaker and flamenco guitarist. His family owns Rome’s Palazzo Ruspoli.

The two met when Olivia was only 18 years old and after a relationship of just six months, they got married. The 26-year-old actress agreed then that it wasn’t a conventional wedding. They got married on a school bus having just a few witnesses.

“We eloped. There was nothing traditional about it,” she told “Women’s Health”. She also said that maybe the secret to their happy marriage was the fact that they weren’t putting to much pressure in order to make it work. “You’re not thinking, ‘We must be perfect!’ It was, ‘Hey, isn’t this an optimistic thing to do? And if it lasts, we’re lucky.’”

However, it seems that in time, things changed and their plans didn’t correspond anymore. As another source said: “Olivia got married really young. She’s done a lot of growing since then, just like anyone would…they’ve just grown in different directions.” Wilde’s most recent projects are blockbusters “Tron: Legacy” and the upcoming “Cowboys & Aliens.”
