Selena Gomez lands on Teen Vogue’s September 2020 cover. Described by the magazine as a “mini mogul with an acting and singing career, a perfume and fashion line, and a supernova boyfriend,” the 20-year-old star talks in the interview about fashion and personal style, her acting goals, her relationship with Justin Bieber, and many more. Gomez has declared 2020 the year of movies. She’s filmed ‘Spring Breakers’, ‘The Getaway’, and ‘Hotel Transylvania’. On moving away from teen roles, the young star says that, “Monte Carlo was a good step for me at the time, but I would never want to do something like that again.”
Dishing on her acting goals, Selena reveals she is trying to grow up. “It’s frustrating whenever I want the roles that no one’s even thinking about me for, and being like, ‘No,’ with all these other ones,” she says. “Being part of the Disney Channel was such a blessing, and I’m super happy with what my show accomplished, but acting is something I would like to take on more seriously. I don’t necessarily feel accomplished. I want to create a whole different persona when it comes to acting.”
Speaking about fashion, Selena told Teen Vogue that, “I’ve never been comfortable with saying, ‘Here’s a top that I’m going to sell for $350, and it’s just a T-shirt.’ I get sent things that are really nice, and I’m like, ‘This is cute,’ and I look at the tag and it’s $200. I’m like, Oh my gosh, people probably think I buy it, and I don’t. It’s really weird.”
In the interview with the magazine, the lovely actress also speaks about her style. “My personal style would probably be really classic. I mean, I’m usually in jeans, t-shirt, really casual,” she says. She also reveals that her favorite clothing pieces are sweaters. “I was so excited when they had all these sweaters for this cover. I just love that cozy feeling, that you can dress them up or down.”
Besides acting and singing, Selena has also released a perfume and partnered with Kmart on the fashion line called Dream Out Loud. “I wanted to be able to make a line for my fans,” she explained in the cover story for the magazine. “That’s all year, every year,” Selena says when being asked about Dream Out Loud. “I love doing it, and I’m super proud of it,” she admits.
Selena says she is ready to go back into the studio to begin work on her fourth album. “It’s going to be different — a little older but still really fun,” she reveals. On her dream music collaboration she says that, “Who I would die to work with, but I don’t think he ever would — I don’t even think he’s doing music anymore — is Justin Timberlake. Just ’cause I love his music sooo much.”
When it comes to her relationship with Justin Bieber, Selena confesses that, “It’s really fun. I’m lucky. I’m 20. I don’t take anything in my personal life too seriously. I have great friends and a solid group of people I love. I feel like everything else will come organically.” What about marriage? “Marriage and all that other stuff I think will happen once I feel accomplished in every other aspect of my life,” she says.
