She is a hard working girl who loves her job and the results are more than fruitful. Selena Gomez, as it’s her we are talking about, managed to grow a lot as an artist and became a role model and a style icon for teens around the world. She appeared on numerous shows such as “Dancing With the Stars” and “Late Show With David Letterman”, addressing to a wider range of public. She moved on from ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ and she’s currently promoting her third album and the film “Monte Carlo”, set to be released on July 1, which also stars Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy. Now, Selena strikes a sexy pose for the latest issue of ‘Billboard’. Inside, the 18-year-old actor/singer talks about her career and taking chances, Internet, her professional relationship with her mom, and reveals the actor whose career she looks up to.

Selena Gomez’s third album, “When the Sun Goes Down”, will be released on June 28. On being both an actress and singer, Justin Bieber‘s girlfriend says that, “It’s obviously an important phase in my career, and personally,” Gomez says. “The good news is I have been juggling acting and singing for two-and-a-half to three years. But I have to start over in some areas. It’s interesting to start taking risks, to grow up through my music.”

Speaking about the style of her album, Selena Gomez admits that all the songs were created to suit her 100%. “It’s techno dance,” Gomez says. “Pop is something I’m most comfortable with and these are producers who know me and know the direction we want to go in. The songs are tailored to me and my style. I’m very lucky.”

It was her mom, Mandy Teefey, the one to take Selena to TV auditions even before the teen star started singing. And she stood by her from the very beginning and Selena talks proudly about this. “My mom has been my manager since day one,” Gomez says. “She helps me make choices correctly. She protects me.”

Selena has one actor whose career she admires and wants to emulate: Shia LaBeouf. “He did it really well. He’s talented and doing wonderful things. Everybody has their own vision of how they want things to play out. . . Eventually I hope to make a record in Spanish. I don’t do anything that’s not organic. I don’t like putting my name on anything I don’t approve,” she confesses.

What about her relationship with the Internet and her fans? Selena has nearly 6 million Twitter followers and 20.5 million “likes” on Facebook. “I have a love-hate relationship with the Internet. I don’t like it in general — it’s vicious. But it’s also incredibly that I can connect with fans, because I love to hear their feedback and let them know about my life,” Gomez told ‘Billboard’.
