With Rihanna as a covergirl it’s no doubt that the September Glamour issue is focused on delivering some seriously hot celebrity style suggestions. However, Rihanna is not the only star who opened up for her fans while sporting some fabulous fall outfit alternatives. Disney star Selena Gomez has also chosen glamorous outfits for her interview with the popular magazine.
Reviving the ’60s glamour with a slightly different style perspective some might have expected, Selena chose a myriad of interesting looks from important fashion brands such as Isaac Mizrahi New York, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Mulberry, Sensi Studio Ecuador and Carolina Herrera.
In the interview with the magazine the star, who has taken no less than 5 awards at the Teen Choice Awards, talks about some of her recent projects, starting with her single ‘Who says’. Selena confesses that the song is something many teens can relate to and the song also describes a life experience she went through: “It’s an anthem that everybody can relate to, but it’s really for my fans who are going through cyberbullying and people trying to bring them down and tell them they’re not good enough. It’s even an anthem for myself; it makes me feel really good.”
Selena seems to have had her fair share of rejection from people who thought she is not star material: “I had someone tell me that today! And when I was 11 years old, I had a grown woman who was a casting director tell me that I was not strong enough to carry the lead in any project. Now I’m doing things that I love, and I’m working really hard. I never want to play the victim or anything, but of course everybody deals with it.”
On working for the movie “Monte Carlo”, Selena readily admits the fact that she was a little intimidated by her co-stars, but that it was a fabulous experience: “I was nervous and intimidated because they are older and had worked on movies before, but they were the best girls I could have been paired up with! They were so sweet and took me under their wing.”
It appears that the 19 year old star is always keeping her fans in mind when deciding the project she works on and does her best to stay true to herself despite pressures: “Disney and my fans have gotten me to where I’m at, so I would never want to do anything that would offend them. I’m going to get older and turn into a woman, but right now I hope I can make projects that everybody is able to go out and see. Yeah, you have this pressure [to fit in] and you want people to like you. I try my best to be a good person and be the best I can be.”
She also tries to do her best in staying in touch with her fan base via social networks, but also acknowledges some of their downsides : “I love that I can stay connected with my fans and be able to tell them what’s going on—their opinions are so important to me. But at the same time, it’s very weird. I think the Internet can be a great thing but also really evil. Something can instantly hurt your feelings.” She also mentions that she does her best to shrug off hurtful, threatening comments from her boyfriend’s fans: “Yeah, I’m human, so of course certain things sometimes hurt. I just laugh at it.”
Speaking about her plans with Justin Bieber, the star states that she is satisfied living in the moment: ‘But I’m 19, so I feel like everything that I’m doing right now should not be taken too seriously. I should be able to have fun and enjoy where I’m at! So I don’t want to spend my time hiding or worrying about all of that.” Professionally speaking, Selena says collaborating with her beau is something she would not exclude: “If it comes naturally or organically, maybe!”
