Taylor Swift is known for her amazing voice, unique style, stunning beauty and love for stylish dresses with a vintage twist. But apparently the diva that usually opts for demure looks has decided to show that she can also rock power looks with stylishly tailored trousers in the December 2020/January 2020 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
The singer posed like a true pro for Paola Kudacki’s camera lens for Harper’s Bazaar, rocking designer outfits signed by some of the biggest fashion designers of the world. Despite the fact that she’s known for her all-femine style, Taylor opted for some office-chic garments that showed off an equally seductive side of Taylor yet with a twist. Talking about various topics including fashion, what she looks for in a relationship and fame, Taylor demonstrated that she’s still quite down-to-earth, despite her celebrity status.
Fashion is a big part of an entertainer’s life and it seems that Taylor has always had a penchant for fashion, particularly for dresses. She tells Harper’s Bazaar that she discovered her love for dresses since she was a teenager. A dress signed Ralph Lauren worn by Gwyneth Paltrow got Taylor raiding the mall for a similar dress when she was 15 as she recalls:
“I was 15 and going to prom for the first time, and I saw that picture of Gwyneth in the pink gown. I went all over the mall and showed it to all the store owners and said, ‘Do you have anything that looks like this?’ And no one did.”
Well, she surely doesn’t have that problem anymore and can buy herself the most exclusive creations as her fame and fortune seem to be constantly growing. The all-grown-up Taylor has now defined her style and when it comes to the perfect outfit, she’ll pick a dress in a blink of an eye as the singer says that “there’s just something so feminine about a dress. Whether it’s a summertime dress that makes me feel carefree, an evening cocktail dress that makes me feel fancy, or a vintage dress that makes me feel like a ’50s housewife—which I enjoy feeling like, for some reason—I just really like dresses.”
So, if she’s got the finances and her style all sorted out, how many dresses does she have? Well, according to Taylor, she’s got “hundreds, because I’m in a predicament where I can’t wear a dress twice or else it’s pointed out in magazines, so unfortunately I have to shop for dresses all the time.”
Out of all the dresses she could have picked for the photoshoot, Taylor opted for a garment she’s rarely seen in; trousers, and apparently it’s because she felt like doing something different. The 22 year old singer said:
“I think doing something that’s different, that’s out of your comfort zone is important.”
Veering from the fashion zone to her personal life, Taylor reveals the thing that she’s looking for when she’s in a relationship. She confesses:
“It needs to be equal. If I feel too much like I’m wearing the pants, I start to feel uncomfortable and then we break up. It’s wonderful to hand over the reins to your boyfriend when you control so much of these big, high-pressure decisions, you know? That is a huge defining factor in who you choose to be with.”
