The 63 year old fashion designer Vera Wang would put younger women to shame with her super toned, lean physique. The remarkably fit body of the designer can be observed in a lovely spread created by Harper’s Bazaar, where Ms. Wang gives her fans a glimpse at her latest purchase, a minimalist style four bedroom house in Beverly Hills.
However, the designer is keen on making things clear from the get-go to ensure that people don’t perceive her as something she is not, plus she wants to make clear that although she is pleased with her new home purchase, she will not be moving here from New York, but this will be more of a peaceful retreat area for the her. In the exclusive interview with the magazine, Vera Wang states that: “I am not the sort of woman who would wear high heels with a bathing suit. Let’s get that straight right now.”
As far as her new L.A crib goes, Ms Wang says: “It’s a zen escape. New York for me is about work. If L.A. were to become a West Coast version of that, I’d shoot myself. The climate, the lifestyle — it really fits as the yin to my New York yang.”
This is a house the designer has been searching for quite a while, for about 10 years more precisely, when she decided that she would like to buy a house in the sunny L.A, but it was only last year when she found her ‘treasure’. She says about her new home that: “I looked and looked, but when I found this one I felt so immediately comfortable being in it.”
The amazing four-bedroom house features a contemporary, minimalist architecture with floor-to-ceiling glass walls that overlooks the Los Angeles Basin and the Pacific Ocean, designs that are both simple and sophisticated and a view that instantly takes the breath away. With an immense pool and sun all year long, Ms. Wang can make the best out of her time spent in L.A whenever she desires.
As far as her decision to pose in a gorgeous swimsuit for the magazine, Ms. Wang states that:
“I wanted to wear a corset from Alexander Wang, whom I like a great deal. I was thinking it would be over a legging or a boyish short, but the next thing I knew, I was there in a swimsuit. The funny thing is that I’m the girl who no one sees at the beach. Ask anyone who’s traveled with me. Normally, I’m in so many layers, I look like Lawrence of Arabia!”
Ms. Wang, who’s designs are worn by celebrities and not only shares that ‘glam is not my middle name’. She tells Harper’s Bazaar that she prefers ‘artsy, subversive, minimalist, street’ instead. She says: “I make things of my own that aren’t that glam, but I’m not known for that, which has always been a bit of a frustration for me.”
