Super mom, successful business woman and fashion icon, Victoria Beckham graces the May 2020 cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK for the magazine’s special issue dedicated to celebrating all that is great about Britain’s idiosyncratic cultural royalty.
In the accompanying interview, the 37-year-old pop-star-turned-designer opens up to Bazaar’s Deputy Editor, Sarah Bailey about juggling her roles as designer and being a mother of three growing boys and new baby daughter Harper Seven, but also about how she feels about her body, what it’s like to go to bed with David Beckham, winning her 2020 British Fashion Award for Designer Brand of the Year and many more.
“I cried three times, I didn’t thank the people I wanted to thank, I was really rubbish. But I think people saw the real me,” Victoria tells the magazine about how she felt winning her 2020 British Fashion Award for Designer Brand of the Year.
Maybe she has an enviable body and no sooner had she given birth to Harper, she was back flaunting her amazing figure in sexy mini dresses, Mrs Beckham admits in her interview that this is not the thing that matters the most.
“Maybe my tummy isn’t as tight as it used to be, but I’ve got four amazing kids, and that’s what really matters. Of course getting in to bed with David Beckham every night after having four kids, you know…[cue eye-roll of resigned self-deprication]- but I’ve come to the conclusion that David is getting older as well. I’m not trying to fight it,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar.
Mrs Beckham, who is a size six, says that her silhouette is that of the average woman and that she represents the general public. “We always joke that we have this fabulously gorgeous 17-year-old model who is six-foot-whatever, and then I say ‘OK, I’m going to put it on. I stand for the general public here.’ It’s how I work. I found it really difficult when I was pregnant and I couldn’t do that. It’s part of the process — I’ll stand here in my knickers and start draping fabric over myself. It was very hard when I didn’t have my body,” Victoria told the magazine.
Victoria confesses in the cover story for Harper’s Bazaar special May 2020 issue that she is a big fan of ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’ actress Tilda Swinton. “I’m quite obsessed with Tilda Swinton. I find her intriguing, very stylish, she clearly understands fashion,” Mrs Beckham says.
The 37-year-old brunette also dishes on her husband’s underwear line for famous Swedish retailer H&M and admits that, “David created it, we own it and H&M does the distribution. It makes sense business-wise and it has integrity, because David has designed it all himself.”
